Are you referring to the right service?
- This service can be accessed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, and women whose baby will identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- It offers continuity of care by a known Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwife and child health nurse from conception to the first 2000 days (5 years)
- Appointments can be at home, our one-stop community space, in hospital or at a convenient location for you depending on your recommended care
- Community space hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm
- Waijungbah Jarjums Midwifery services include two all-risk Models of Care:
- Midwifery Group Practice (MGP)
- Continuity model of care
- Allocated midwife provides care through antenatal/postnatal periods and is on-call for labour/birth
- MGP midwives work in a team of 4 or more and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Your Midwives Waijungbah Jarjums
- Antenatal and Postnatal care only
- Allocated midwife provides care through antenatal/postnatal period
- preferred MOC if wanting GP shared care
- Antenatal and postnatal education
- Indigenous-led hypnobirthing course
- Breastfeeding support
- Blood tests and vaccinations
- Health hearing screening
- Obstetric clinic at community space
- Support with transport and parking options
- Social Work support
- Support from Advanced Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners
- Midwifery Group Practice (MGP)
Conditions
Out of Scope Services
The following conditions are out of scope for this service:
- Pregnant women or their baby who do not identify as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander
Out of Catchment
Gold Coast Health is responsible for providing public health services to the people who reside within its boundaries. Special consideration is made for patients requiring tertiary services or for services that are not provided by their local hospital and health service district. If your patient lives outside the Gold Coast Health catchment area and you wish to refer them to one of our services, please indicate relevant medical or social information that will assist with the processing of your referral.
