- If suspect adrenal insufficiency, then early discussion with endocrinologist is advised
- If acutely unwell, treatment with IV or IMI hydrocortisone 100mg should be commenced pending results of cortisol, short synacthen test

Essential Referral Information
- ELFTs
- Glucose
- Morning (08:00-09:00) cortisol and ACTH unless acutely unwell then random
- Renin, aldosterone
- Pituitary investigations if evidence of ACTH deficiency
If a specific test result cannot be obtained due to access, financial, religious, cultural or consent reasons a clinical override may be requested. This reason must be clearly articulated in the body of the referral.
